Originally inspired by a reading of Italo Calvino “Invisible cities” I began working on a project loosely based on it. Soon the book became for me an object of study and aesthetic interest and I started looking for signs of the “Invisible cities” around me, in the New York area and particularly in the city of Brooklyn.
“I have tried to remove weight, sometimes from people, sometimes from heavenly bodies, sometimes from cities,” writes Calvino. “Above all I have tried to remove weight from the structure of stories and from language.” This idea of pursuing lightness inspired me deeply in the making of this series.
