Moving to NY in fall 2008, I created a series of paintings inspired by the idea of a gigantic washing machine as a metaphor for New York. It seems that in New York time goes as fast as the clothes cycle through the drying and tumbling process. A carousel of colors and smells spinning together as the warning light of the machine bites the time.
After making the paintings I hang them to “dry” in public spaces around the city to stimulate interaction with the public.
